Translation
Most of the time, texts need to be translated in a way that they have the same purpose in their target language as they do in their original language. So-called ‘word-for-word’ translations are generally not good enough, which is why a professional translation is essential.
I don’t use machine translation (such as Google translate) when I’m working, so you can be sure that any translation I deliver has been written by me and reads like it has been written in English.
I do, however, work with texts that have already been machine translated. This is not suitable for all types of text, please email me for more information.
Proofreading/revision
This involves comparing the English translation to the original-language document, and is a vital step in my own workflow. However, it is also a service that I offer separately.

Although my work is very varied, there are certain fields in which I have more experience and have invested more time learning. As a result, the following fields are those that I am especially confident and familiar with.
Law
Legal translation is a topic that really interests me, so I’ve spent lots of time honing my legal translation skills by reading books, attending seminars and workshops and following online courses (particularly those by Tutellus in Spanish).

Gastronomy
I’ve always had a healthy appetite, which is especially true since meeting my husband, who’s a former chef. I spend lots of time reading, thinking about, cooking and eating food and have a wide knowledge of the cuisines of Spain and France.
