About me

Based on the border of Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, in south-east England, I’ve been working as a professional translator since October 2016.

Qualifications

BA Modern Languages (Spanish and Catalan with French) – Durham University, 2014, 2:1

This course gave me a thorough understanding of my working languages, and also allowed me to live in Spain during my third year. I lived in Tarragona, Catalonia, and as a result gained a high level of ability in both Spanish and Catalan.

I also spent summer living and working in the French Pyrenees, where I learned so much about the French language and culture.

MA Translation Studies – Sheffield University, 2016, merit

My MA in Translation Studies gave me the practical and theoretical skills to produce accurate translations that read well in English, as well as valuable knowledge of the translation industry.

As I studied this course part time while working almost full time, it also gave me very strong organisational skills.

Commitment to CPD

One of my favourite aspects of my job is that I am constantly learning, both in terms of vocabulary and languages as well as subject-specific knowledge. As such, I like to make CPD a key focus of what I do, so that my skills remain up to date and my languages are always improving.
